The project, which was completed in 6 months, was funded by the Government of Ghana under the auspices of the Coastal Development Authority (CODA).
The project also received some support from Member of Parliament for the area, Madam Cynthia Mamle Morrison, who donated roofing sheets to ensure its timely completion. The construction of the facility became necessary after a shed which was previously occupied by the pupils was destroyed by a heavy downpour.
Speaking to the media after the ceremony, the Headteacher of the school, Mr. Abraham Abitey Tei, said the situation became dire that he had to collapse the school's farm in order to make the land available for the commencement of the project.
He thus expressed his profound appreciation to the Assembly and CODA for their unflinching support for the school and further expressed hope that the project will go a long way to raise the standard of education in the area. He noted that the school currently has a total enrollment of 360 pupils comprising 63 KG 1 and 2, 205 primary and 92 Junior High School pupils.
He mentioned inadequate teaching staff, lack of staff accommodation, furniture deficit, and truancy among pupils as some challenges that are currently confronting the school. He seized the opportunity to call on authorities to help mitigate these challenges.
