North Tongu: 4-District Water Project in the offing to address water challenges

A fourth phase of a 4-District Water Project would soon commence in the North Tongu district as a step to ensuring the supply of potable water to communities.

The North Tongu District Chief Executive, Divine Osborn Fenu disclosing this in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com stated that the project is to benefit most communities in the district.

"Currently, there are studies on the ground, land has been acquired already to start, the design is being prepared; and I'm very sure that very soon that project would kick start to cater for communities over bank", he stated.

The DCE commended the government for the commitment it has shown the people in making sure they access good drinking water, following the completion of the 3 - District Water project involving North Tongu, Ada West, and Ada which enables communities like Aveyime Battor, Mepe, and some surrounding towns to now enjoy potable water.

He said a number of attempts to drill boreholes in some part of the district that have challenges with potable water proved futile because of the salinity of the water; but he assured that once this 4-District Water Project is done, they would all be attended to.
