He said quality education remained the surest legacy the government could bequeath to prepare the Ghanaian child for a brighter future.

“The process of attaining quality education for all is not limited to the classroom, but involves curricular activities both within and outside the classroom setting,” he stated while speaking at the fourth edition of the Annual Youth Career Guidance Fair for basic schools in the area.

Mr. Opoku advised schoolchildren to take advantage of government interventions and remain studious. He also urged teachers and families to guide their children and wards in choosing and pursuing career paths that would shape their future.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) Tano North Municipal Directorate organised the forum, which was held at Terchire in the municipality. It was attended by schoolchildren, personnel from the security services, health professionals, educators, and engineers.

Mr. Opoku further advised the pupils, saying: “Don’t be afraid to dream big, because your future is in your own hands. Choose the right profession that will enable you to achieve your life goals and aspirations.”

Mr. Stephen Tia Adams, Tano North Municipal Director of Education, explained that the fair, among other objectives, aimed to create opportunities for schoolchildren to interact with professionals and identify their innate talents and capabilities.

He said this would enable pupils and students to choose and pursue appropriate courses that would lead to successful careers and enable them to contribute positively to society.

Mr. Adams expressed gratitude to Otumfuo Brempong Dr. Okoh Agyemang Baokye II, Chief of Terchire, for his unwavering support in promoting quality education in the municipality and beyond.

Madam Veronica Kumi Yeboah, Tano North Schools Improvement Support Officer of the GES and initiator of the Youth Career Guidance Fair, said the event also sought to adequately prepare candidates for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

She advised the candidates to be confident and study hard to pass the examination and attain higher academic success. She noted that the schoolchildren who attended the event were drawn from the Duayaw-Nkwanta, Bomaa, Tanoso, Yamfo, Terchire, and Adrobaa circuits of the GES.

Otumfuo Brempong Baokye II, Chief of Terchire, who presided over the event, commended the directorate for the initiative and urged the Municipal Assembly to continue supporting the programme to sustain and enhance the growth and development of education in the municipality.
