We would institute Kente festival Kwabre East MCE

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kwabre East, Nana Osei Asibey had said that his district would ensure that second in running Kente festival becomes institutionalized and spread it to other districts in the country.

He made this remarks when he supported Member of Parliament for Kwabre East who made a statement on the floor of the House.

In an interview with the media, he noted that Kwabre East would increase the production of Kente which would become an annual festival to create employment for people in his district and at the same time generate money for them.

The MCE further added that the festival which would be launched on Sunday the 22nd of July 2018 would see the festival coming off in September.

“Before we even have the festival we have the commencement of the festival in Septembers we have some institutions in Germany about six of them placing order for our Kente to be used during their graduation”, he said.

As to why the prices are expensive, he added that, Kente produced in Kwabre are of high quality and the cost of raw materials are very expensive but was quick to add that, Kwabre Kente are durable.

Mr. Nana Osei Asibey revealed that as part of the “one district, one factory” initiative, the district has plans to get a factory and produce cotton in abundance so that the Kente prices can be affordable to the ordinary Ghanaian.
