The farmers marched to draw attention to the challenges affecting their farming activities and called on the authorities to take urgent measures to address the situation.

According to the aggrieved farmers, the persistent movements of cattle onto their farmlands and illegal sand winning have resulted in crop destruction, raising concerns about their ability to sustain their farming operations and earn a living.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Abuakwa North, Hon. Charles Darko Yeboah, who received the farmers’ concerns, assured them of swift action to address the issues.

Hon. Charles Darko Yeboah reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to addressing the concerns raised by the farming community and

finding lasting solutions to protect farmlands from further destruction.

However, the farmers warned that they would escalate the matter to the Regional Minister if the situation remained unchanged despite the MCE’s assurance.

They called for immediate intervention to protect their farmlands, prevent further crop destruction and ensure that those responsible for the reported activities are held accountable.

The protest highlights the need for effective enforcement of regulations governing cattle movement and sand-winning activities to protect agricultural lands and safeguard farmers’ livelihoods.
