The meeting, held on Tuesday, sought to dialogue with traders and operators whose structures currently occupy portions of the designated zone. Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Simon Kweku Tetteh emphasised that the engagement was not about forceful removal but to find a collaborative path forward.

“We are committed to ensuring that the 24-hour economy policy takes off smoothly here in Effiduase. However, we also recognise that these business owners have invested resources,” Mr. Tetteh said. “This consultation is to explore relocation options, compensation, or possible integration into the new economic hub.”

The 24-hour economy policy seeks to keep businesses running around the clock to boost productivity and employment. The Effiduase site, near the MTTD office, has been identified as one of the strategic locations for the initiative.

Container owners expressed mixed reactions. Some welcomed the engagement, while others raised concerns about the timing and potential loss of income.

The Assembly assured them of a transparent process and pledged to schedule follow-up discussions before any further action is taken.
