647 Community Police Assistants passed out in Koforidua

A total of 647 young Ghanaians have taken a significant step towards serving their communities after graduating as Community Police Assistants in Koforidua.

The trainees, drawn from the Bono East, Central, and Eastern Regions, are set to play a vital role in enhancing public safety and strengthening community-police relations.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, who was the review officer said security remains the backbone of maintaining peace, stability and development. She said the government continued investment in the Ghana Police Service and community-oriented initiatives, noting that the CPAs will play a vital role in enhancing public safety and strengthening the relationship between the police and the citizenry.

The minister urged the graduates to uphold integrity, professionalism, discipline, humility, and respect for human rights in their duties. She emphasized that policing is about partnership with the people and that the CPAs will be the face of the Ghana Police Service and the Youth Employment Agency in their respective communities.

Mrs Awatey said the CPAs will be crucial in intelligence gathering, community engagement, and assisting the police in maintaining law and order, particularly with the rollout of the 24-Hour Economy Policy.

She reminded them that policing is not about intimidating but about partnership with the people to ensure peace and security. She said their communities will look up to them not only as protectors but also as role model. It is against this background that every action that they take must inspire confidence in the people they serve.

The minister commended the Ghana Police Service and the Youth Employment Agency for their fruitful collaboration and acknowledged the families and loved ones of the graduates for their support.
