DORMAA E: Support government to deliver - DCE tell Ghanaians

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa East in the Brong Ahafo Region, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman has called on Ghanaians to support and collaborate with government to use the available limited resources to effectively and efficiently develop the nation’s development.

The DCE was addressing participants at a Town Hall meeting held at Wamfie in the Dormaa East District of the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. The meeting forms part of a series of town hall meeting organized by the Ministry of Information in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to interact with the people and also create a platform for them to ask relevant questions on development.

Mr. Agyeman presented to the people, the highlights of the governments, programmes, policies, projects and activities as well as initiatives that the assembly was implementing for sustainable development. The highlights he stated included, programmes such as Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village One Dam, Free Senior High School, the One District One Factory and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plans (NEIP).
He also outlined initiatives taken to improve on the living standards of residents and encouraged the youth to take advantage of the numerous policies Job Center (JC) and Youth Fund (YF) in the Districts was initiating for the development of the area. He noted that the Job Center and the YF, the DCE said that they were the assembly’s initiative to assist job seekers through training and funding.

He explained that, the JC is there to assist the youth who might be applying for jobs and recruitment online and also to train them on how to pass interviews.On the Youth Fund, Mr. Agyeman said, it supports the youth with funds to start or expand their businesses. He disclosed that, the District held a youth conference earlier this year to train the youth to be entrepreneurs.
The DCE encouraged parents not to compromise on the education of their children as well as take advantage of the government’s efforts to help their wards study.

Participants had the opportunity to ask pertinent questions, expressed satisfaction at the meeting, and urged the government to make such meetings regular. Present at the meeting were heads of departments, traditional authorities, teachers, students, market women and the general public.




Mr. Imoro Ayibani Tebra, the Brong Ahafo Regional Information Officer n his remarks on the said the initiative by the Information Ministry offers an opportunity for residents to seek clarification on government policies and programmes being implemented in the districts. In an exclusive interview on his evaluation of the programme, he noted that the programme offer stakeholders the opportunity to ask questions bordering them in their quest to seek answers for development of their district. This he said was done during the open forum.

The programme also offered accountability and transparency because the District Chief Executive (DCE) and the Heads of Department accounted for their stewardship for using state resources to bring development to the people. The Regional Officer further said the programme brought governance closer to the people because the DCE who was the representative of the President and Government as well as the Assembly leadership and the Heads of Department were all present to account for their stewardship for discharging their mandate with state resources.

He therefore appealed to them to ask all questions and provide suggestions to enable government fine-tune and take corrective measures of its programmes for the benefit of Ghanaians. He emphasized the concept will be replicated in all districts in the region as a way of enhancing good governance and strengthen social auditing and accountability.
