SUHUM: MCE marks ‘My First Day at School’ with pupils
The Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mrs. Margaret Darko Darkwah has led a team from the Suhum Municipal Assembly to tour some public basic schools in the Suhum Municipality to mark the 2017/2018 ‘My First Day at School’ celebration.

The team include the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Samuel Tetteh Drah, the Deputy Director of Education, Mr. William Makatta, the Municipal Information Officer, Mrs. Ivy Appiah Agyapomah and other officials from the Suhum Municipal Assembly.
Some of the schools visited include Suhum M/A Experimental A, B and C, Presbyterian Primary, Suhum Anglican A, B, C and D, Suhum Methodist Primary, Suhum Islamic Primary, Ayekotse M/A Primary and the Suhum Model M/A Kindergarten.
Interacting with the children of the various schools visited, The Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs. Margaret Darko Darkwah advised them to learn hard and also take their assignments seriously in order to make their dreams a reality. She charged them to respect their teachers and also obey whatever they tell them.
The MCE also charged the teachers to treat the little children as they treat their own children at home and also work hard to instill discipline and other qualities in them. She said children see their teachers as role models, thus, teachers should do well to put up behaviors that speak well of them in order for the children to emulate.
Mrs. Margaret Darko Darkwah presented the children of each school visited with drinks and biscuits and an undisclosed amount of money.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Samuel Tetteh Drah, also charged the children to aspire to learn hard so they can pass the Basic Education Certificate Examination in order to enjoy the Free Senior High School policy introduced by the government.
He charged teachers to always give out assignments to the children in order to keep them busy and studious.
The team also visited the canteens of the various schools to interact with the staff to have a firsthand information of their activities and problems. The MCE promised that all comments and problems will soon receive the appropriate attention.
The Municipal Director of Education expressed gratitude to the MCE and other officials for taking part in the 2017/2018 ‘My First Day at School’ celebration.
