The Birim Central Municipal Assembly last year mobilised Gh 634,371.54, representing 89.8 per cent of its projected figure of Gh 706,120.48 for 2013.

Ms Ophelia Koomson, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), announced this at the First Ordinary Meeting of the Assembly at Akyem Oda.

She reminded members of the importance of Internally Generated Funds (IGF) and the role it plays in infrastructural development.

Ms Koomson challenged the members to support revenue collectors in their communities to help maximise revenue collection.

She disclosed that for the past four years, the assembly had provided a number of social amenities and infrastructure for the people.

By the end of 2013, the assembly had undertaken a number of projects with its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund, the District Development Facility (DDF) and Urban Development Grant (UDG).

Ms Koomson mentioned some of the projects under UDG as the construction of community clinic at Nyame Nti, Resource Center for persons with Disability at Akyem Oda and a drain at Akyem Oda old Town Zongo.

Under the DDF, she said concrete footbridges were constructed at Akyem Oda, and an Information and Communication Technology Centre at the Akyem Oda Wesley Methodist Junior High School.

Ms Koomson said she was determined to ensure that the assembly would continuously emerge victorious in the yearly FOAT assessment so that we can qualify for the grant of the DDF and UDG funds.

She acknowledged the hard work and dedication of management and staff including the assembly members resulting in the success.

On the Street Naming and Property Addressing Project, as directed by President John Dramani Mahama, Ms Koomson said the assembly was actively participating in the exercise.
