Chiefs within the Ga East Municipality have given patients at the Pataang Hospital in Accra a reason to smile again.

The chiefs in collaboration with their counterpart in the La-Nkwantaang Madina Municipality donated items comprising food stuffs, detergents among other materials worth two thousand Ghana Cedis (GHs2, 000) to the hospital.

This is the second time in this year that the chiefs donated to the hospital which faces many challenges especially in terms of funding.

Originally the Hospital was built as a psychiatry hospital in 1975 but now caters for general cases as well.

Nii Samuel Mohanu, President of the Ga East Chiefs Association who made the presentation on behalf of the chiefs remarked that the presentation was due to the love for their citizens and sickness doesn’t mean they should be neglected.

He also commended the doctors and staff of the Pantang Hospital for their commitment in serving the community by helping sick people.

Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Anna Puklo Dzade who received the items on behalf of the Hospital thanked the Chiefs but appealed to them to educate their people on the need for after care services when the patients are discharged.

La-Nkwantanang-Madina with its Administrative capital Madina was carved from Ga East and forms part of the new municipalities created in the year 2012.
