Residents of Big Ada in Dangme East District of Greater Accra Region has celebrated the outdooring of Naana Obuade Okoryoo II as Paramount Queen of Ada.

The ceremony which was the first of its kind in the area also witnessed the outdooring of divisional queens for the four dangme clans, who first inhabited the town before the settlement of their colleagues from the Akan and Ewe lands.

They are, Naana Adiki Adi II from the Adibiawe clan, Naana Ngmongmloki Limor II of the Lomobiawe Clan, Naana Korleki Korley II of the Terkperbia we Clan, and Naana Adaniwa Avagbey II from the Dangmebiawe Clan.

A Linguist Naana Damekinita Akwada II was also outdoored at the ceremony.

The queens embarked on a street procession before retiring at their clan homes for communal celebration of their enthronement.

Naana Okoryoo II, known in private life as Madam Paulina Adikuor Tetteh Accma, thanked the people of Ada for their support and prayers.

She called on all the traditional leaders of Ada to unite with the queens, to ensure the promotion of their traditions in the people, especially the youth.

Nene Asafoatse Kerker Zomabi III, a traditional warrior of Lomibiawe clan, told journalists that even though the installation of a paramount queen in Ada was not the first time; the public outdooring had never been done before in the history of the town.

Nene Zomabi explained that the public presentation was in line with the Greater Accra House of Chiefs directive, to give queens a place in the House, as well as to be recognised by the various traditional and divisional councils.

He said prior to this directive, queens were shelved to the background and their contributions were not accessible to the public.
