The Okuapemman Association in the US and Canada have presented a special Peace and Unity Honorary Award to Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, the Eastern Regional Minister, at its 28th Anniversary Celebration of Odwira and Ohum Festival at Newark, New Jersey.

The award was in recognition of the Minister’s extraordinary negotiation skills and dynamic leadership role she played in the historic settlement of the 20 years of protracted chieftaincy dispute among the five divisions in the Okuapemman State.

Ms Ntoso expressed gratitude to the Association for the honour done her and also dedicated the award to her predecessors, especially, Mr Samuel Ofosu- Ampofo and Mr Victor Smith, who first put in place the resolution mechanisms.

She also commended the chiefs and people of Okuapemman for their understanding to live in harmony and appealed to them to adhere religiously to the peace accord they signed in Koforidua.

The five divisional chiefs of Okuapemman on August 27 signed a peace accord in Koforidua to end the 20-year-old chieftaincy dispute.
