The Minister of Roads and Highways, Mrs. Dzifa Attivor has revealed that government is in the process of establishing a new international Airport soon in the Dangme West District in the Greater Accra Region.

The project is part of efforts being put in place by the government to improve the sector and also to raise standards in aviation within the country as against international ones.

According to the Minister, the project will to a large extent expand job creation opportunities and also help generate enough taxes for the government to inject into provision of more infrastructural facilities.

“As the economy grows business will also thrive quickly hence the need to get more airports,” the Minister said whiles adding that “it is important that we embark on this project for use in the future”.

In road transportation however, the Minister said, about 200 more buses will be made available soon to the Metro Mass Transport (MMT) to help complement their efforts in providing affordable and safe transport services to Ghanaians.

The Minister, Mrs. Dzifa Attivor made this known during the Meet the Press series today at the Ministry of Information in Accra.

She said feasibility studies were currently underway for a suitable site to host the international airport in the area.

“We know what we are doing,” she intimated.
