The Kwahu East District Chief Executive, Samuel Asamoah has in the strongest term refuted accusations of bribery leveled against him by his political opponents.
He said as a person who upholds morality to the hilt, giving bribe under any circumstances to better his chances in any endeavour will be the last act that he will ever do.
The DCE whose re-election on Friday was marred by voting malpractices has been accused of bribing the Electoral Official who presided over the election to employ dubious means to secure him the needed votes to ensure his approval.
He said he had neither met nor spoken to the Electoral official before the elections, adding that he first set eyes on the official at the polling station on the day of the event.
Hon. Samuel Asamoah who is the President’s nominee had his confirmation as DCE for Kwahu East abandoned following irregularities that rocked the election on July 18, 2013.
The election recorded over-voting when 37 ballots were countered instead of 33.
This was the second attempt for the assembly to confirm Mr. Samuel Asamoah who is the incumbent DCE after the earlier move failed on July 5, as he was unable to secure the mandatory two-thirds majority.
However in an interview the hardworking DCE indicated that he wants to be reticent on the issue and allow the ongoing investigations into the matter to be concluded, after which he would speak further if the need be.
He was confident that the investigation and subsequent findings will acquit him of any wrong doing leveled against him as he has done no such thing.
