The DCE for Adansi South in the Ashanti Region Benjamin Anhwere has admonished pupils and students in the area to avoid attending funerals and video shows since they are meant for the elderly and can be a major distraction to their academic progress.
Mr. Anhwere said government recognizes the crucial link between education and development and is therefore doing everything possible to raise the standard of education in the country.
The DCE disclosed this when he visited some schools in selected communities in the district during this year’s “My first day at school commemoration”. In Adansi Akrofrom , where about five schools were visited the DCE distributed 50 free school uniforms to pupils of 1 D/A primary school which happened to be the only public school among the five. He noted that his outfit had earlier distributed 45 uniforms to pupils in the same school.
At Senaso Nkwanta another community in the district , the Chief Executive gave out mini flags to fresh school entrants to symbolize the importance of the day while in Kubi Kwanta Primary School , Anhwere and his team gave out 50 new uniforms to augment an earlier 45 that had been distributed.
He revealed that the assembly is in preparation to give out about 2000 new uniforms to schools in the district in order to ease the financial stress on parents and to boost education in the area.
