The Juaboso District Assembly in the Western Region has constituted a revenue mobilisation task force as part of its efforts to step up revenue mobilisation activities as well as raise the needed funds to supplement the district’s Common Fund.

The District Chief Executive of the area, Hon Solomon Fuachie, made this known at the second ordinary meeting of the third session of the district assembly.

He said the revenue and budget departments had taken steps to prosecute some defaulters, adding that there were plans to provide uniforms and ID cards for revenue collectors.

"They have intensified revenue mobilisation. The information van is being used to educate all communites under its jurisdiction to pay their taxes, "he said.

Hon Fuachie said the district was one of the four districts in the region "benefiting from the EU and IDA water sanitation and hygiene interventions".
Work, he said was progressing steadily at Afere, Bodi, Bonsu Nkwanta and Amoaya and expressed the hope that the projects would be completed by the end of the year.

On the issue of security, he said the District Security Committee (DISEC) had been very proactive in mitigating the security threat and would continue to ensure tat people did not live in fear.

Hon. Fuachie said in line with the government’s job creation programme, the assembly was facilitating work on the in-land valley rice project while work was on-going at Afere and would be extended to other areas.

On projects undertaken so far, he said there had been the creation of a pavilion re-roofing of Datano JHS office, the water board had been helped to pay an accumulated electricity bill of GHC 2,800 mass spraying cocoa exercise, sponsoring of 25 pupils to participate in the science and mathematics programme, among other things.

"My efforts to bring the district to an appreciable level would be fruitless if I do not receive the necessary support", he said.

The Presiding member of Juaboso District Assembly, Nana Kwabena Nkuah, charge the assembly members to always relay the decision of the assembly to the electorate.

He said they should also consult the electorate before going for assembly meetings.
