KMA organizes community durbar

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has organized a community durbar at the Bantama Sub-Metropolitan Council.

This is in accordance with the Local Governance Act 936 (2016) section 40 that requires all Assemblies to engage residents and other relevant stakeholders within the metropolis to encourage participation in local governance.

Discussion centered on sanitation, revenue mobilization, transport, building permits, temporary permits, social welfare, public relations and complaints and entrepreneurial skills by Ghana Enterprises Agency. The Assembly also exhibited photos of projects undertaken within the sub-metro.

The general public was given the opportunity to ask questions and to which answers were provided while others suggested alternative ways of doing things to enhance the work of the Assembly.

The Mayor of KMA Mr. Samuel Pyne ceased the day to launch the Business in a Box by Mastercard Foundation/Ghana Enterprises project dubbed 'Biz in a Box' where it seeks to train youth between the ages of 15 to 35 years in tailoring, hair dressings, handicrafts, agro businesses etc.

All the 11 Assembly Members of the Bantama Sub- Metro were present, including unit committee members, Nananom, opinion leaders, market women, clergy and others.
