The desks, which were presented by the District Chief Executive of the area, Rev. Ransford Nyarko forms part of various interventions outlined by the assembly to help promote quality education in the district.
According to the DCE, about 5,000 desks had so far been distributed in over 105 basic schools across the District.
“Hopefully by the end of the four years of President Nana Akufo Addo’s administration, one of the legacies we would have left is to ensure that no child sits on the floor or has more than two pupils on a desk in a classroom”, He added.
Referring to the popular adage ‘a stitch in time saves nine’, Mr Nyarko through the Directorate admonished all heads of schools to maintain the desks and quickly fix any broken parts to ensure that they are not destroyed.
This, he said, would help in the appropriate channeling of resources into other equally important areas in education.
On her part, the District Director of Education, Madam Sabina Aba Wilson on behalf of the Education Directorate lauded the DCE and the Assembly for the support and added that the desks will be put to proper use. She assured that the desks would be well kept and maintained to continually serve their purpose now and in the future.
