Sekyere South Assembly holds Town hall meeting

The Sekyere South District in the Ashanti Region has held its town hall meeting at Agona, the District capital in order to interact and account on projects and programmes to the citizens.

The meeting which was organised by the Ministry of Information (MoF) in collaboration with the information service department (ISD) and the ministry of local government and rural development is aimed at bringing governance closer to the people through open interactions through opinion leaders, parliamentarians and the general public.


 The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mrs. Catherine Reckling in her address assured the people that she operates an open door in ways to improve the living standards of the people.

She also used the opportunity to give pictorial evidence on her achievement since her tenure in office on areas such as; water and Sanitation, health, Roads, Education and Agriculture sector.


Mrs. Reckling also explained the government flagship policies in which the Assembly is a beneficiary such as; planting for food and jobs, Free SHS programme, school feeding, NABCO, one district one factory, among others.

Nana Akrasi Sarpong, Ashanti Regional Director of information also reiterated on the government’s flagship policies and carefully explained the programme to the understanding of the citizenry.

He said that, H. E Nana Akufo Addo has great interest in the Educational sector, hence the need for the free SHS and also the introduction of the double track system in the education, adding that it was established to enable every child enroll into the senior High school.


He also urged the citizenry to rally behind the DCE to enable Sekyere South move to greater heights.

Also in attendance were the Nananom, Zongo chiefs, Presiding Member, police commander, Assembly members, heads of department and the general public.
