Assembly holds graduation ceremony for complementary basic learners at Didaso Dagomba graduate

The Sekyere Central District Assembly and the Link Community Development and Luminous Fund has held a graduation ceremony for complementary basic learners at Didaso Dagomba

The initiative which is a brainchild of the Luminous Fund, the Link Community Development Agency and the Mampong Diocese of the Anglican Church is aimed at providing children between ages 8-16 who are without any formal education with the needed Basic skills in literature and numeracy to adequately prepare them for their transitioning into the Formal School System.

The programme which commenced in the District in March, 2022 has successfully trained some 400 Learners across the District which comprises 189 females and 211 males.

Some of the beneficiary communities include Abotreye, JY, Aframso No. 2, Didaso Dagomba, Gariba, Jeduako, Kyeiase, Kyekyebon and Nteho and other communities.

Speaking on behalf of the DCE, the District Coordinating Director Madam Lois Ohene-Ayisi expressed profound gratitude to all associated partners for their great efforts in making the initiative a reality. She emphasized the need for all stakeholders to play their respective roles in ensuring the maximization of the gains achieved from this project.

The DCD assured the gathering of the Assembly's commitment in championing for the extension of some social interventions like the Livelihood Empowerment Programme (LEAP) and the School Feeding Programme to help ensure that students continue to remain in school and learn to become illustrious citizens in future.

She also called on parents to do their part in providing the basic necessities for their wards to support their education.

Certificates and an undisclosed amount of cash were awarded to the facilitators in charge of the training by the Link Community Development and Luminous Fund Groups while the graduating pupils were each provided with a school uniform and exercise books which were donated by the Mampong Diocese of the Anglican Church.
