Sagnarigu residents hails DCE over developmental projects

Residents of Sagnarigu in the Northern Region have commended the District Chief Executive for the area, Hon Iddrisu Mariam for initiating developmental projects in the district.

The Residents said, barely some months in office, the DCE is able to put up some developmental projects in the district, adding that, for the first time the Sagnarigu District has been put on the spotlight and it’s becoming a center of attraction for investors.

 

Since assumption of office as the DCE for Sagnarigu, Hon Mariam has initiated several projects including plans to build an ultra-modern market, open up the road network system and establishment of a District hospital.

 

As part of plans for the effective mobilization of IGF in the sagnarigu district, Hon Iddrisu Mariam have outlined some strategies including, setting up a computerized data base for all registered businesses, task all Assembly members together with electoral area coordinators to gather data of all small kiosk businesses along the roads of their communities, an electronic system of revenue collection will be introduced for all revenue items, engage more commission collectors, use at least 20% of the IGF for physical projects quarterly and ensure that all registered businesses in the database of the sagnarigu district obtain e-zwitch so that revenue can be collected via the e-zwitch system to eliminate embezzlement.

 

Most of the broken or faulty streetlights in some suburbs of the district have been fixed to provide security for residents of those vicinity.

 

Areas including, Gurugu, Kanvili, Gumani Junction, Kamina Barracks, Wovogu and Wovoguma streetlights have all been fixed.

Other communities will soon get their fair share of the street lightening project, according to the DCE.

 

She told Savannanews24.com that, the lack of security lights poses threats to the lives of people in and around communities thus the assembly have resolved to extend the street lightening project to all communities and also ensure that all communities are part of the National grid.

 

Hon Mariam hinted that, the streetlights were fixed through the assembly’s internal generated fund. She said, the district has so many challenges but however was very optimistic that some of the major challenges will be dealt with.

 

A resident of Kanvilli Mr. Alhassan Respect, commended the DCE, for walking the talk as far as fixing of the faulty streetlights is concern.

 

According to him, the DCE on Sunday met some community members of the area and she promised to fix the broken and faulty streetlights under her jurisdiction which indeed has come to fruition today.

 

Mr. Alhassan also made a passionate appeal to the Sagnarigu DCE to use all the power at her disposure and her influence to fix the Kanvilli community roads which is very deplorable.

 

“People’s homes get flooded whenever it rains and the whole area of Kanvilli and the Tuunayili road becomes inaccessible”. He emphasized
