MAMPONG: Discuss BECE results with electorates – MCE urges Assembly members

Mr. Thomas Appiah Kubi, Mampong Municipal Chief Executive has entreated Assembly members in the Mampong Municipality to spend time with electorates in their electoral areas to discuss their pupils’ educational performance in the communities.

This according to him, would ensure improvement in the performance of pupils at the BECE level as it would create much awareness on this extremely important examination that ushers students into the free senior high school education.

He made the call at the general assembly meeting of the Mampong Municipal Assembly held on 26th September 2017 at the assembly hall of the Municipal Assembly.

The president’s representative noted that involving all stakeholders in education at the community level was the surest bet in tackling the numerous challenges facing education. He regretted that most parents did not appreciate the essence of the BECE as a stepping stone to the free senior high school programme.

‘’So explaining the results and encouraging parents ,opinion leaders and teachers to all support pupils to make it to the free senior high school programme was the greatest service we could render the future generation” Hon Appiah Kubi noted. Hon Thomas Appiah Kubi – Mampong MCE.

The Municipal Chief Executive again informed the gathering that the municipality attained 63.7 pass in 2016 BECE showing a remarkable improvement over the 2015 BECE pass of 44.2 and commended the Municipal Director of Education, her lieutenants and all stakeholders in the educational sector for the improvement in the BECE results.

He stated that the Assembly financed the 3rd mock of the 2017 BECE candidates at the cost of Eleven Thousand, Seven Hundred and Sixty cedis (GH 11,760.00).

On the issue of encroachment of government owned lands by private developers, Hon Appiah Kubi disclosed to the house that the Environmental and Town and Country planning Units were going to be adequately resourced and tasked to identify all government lands and abandoned projects in the municipality for proper documentation.
