Banda to get a district hospital

President John Dramani Mahama gave this indication at a durbar of the Chiefs and People of the Banda Traditional Area to climax this year’s Banda Fordjour Yam Festival at Banda Ahenkro, the traditional and administrative capital of the Banda District.
President Mahama who was in the District also assured the chiefs and people of Banda of government’s support for the development of the District. He noted that his government has demonstrated that through the numerous developmental projects in the District over the first term of his administration.
He said the District has benefited from a lot of development projects under his government making the District the fastest developing District in the Brong Ahafo Region. He added that the District has 100% electricity and water coverage.
The president was followed by his wife, Her Excellency Mrs. Lordina Mahama, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah-General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Alhaji Collins Dauda, Hon. Eric Opoku-Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Justice Samuel Adjei-Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister.
Also president at the durbar were the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Jacob Boateng and other District Chief Executives from Tain and the Jaman North District.
A cash donation of ten thousand Ghana Cedis was made towards the construction of a new Chiefs palace by President John Mahama.
In his welcome address, the Paramount Chief of the Banda Traditional Area, Osaberima Okokyiredom Kwadwo Sito I was full of praise for President Mahama, his wife and the government for the numerous developmental projects in Traditional Area.
He said the District since its creation by the NDC administration has seen massive development in the history of the Banda people. He mentioned some of the development as the ongoing construction of one of the Community Day Senior High Schools and other classroom infrastructure at the Bandaman Senior High School, electrification projects among others.
He however appealed to President John Mahama for the construction of the Menji-Banda road, construction of Banda Ahenkro town roads and a satellite campus of the University of Energy and Natural Resources.
