PRU: Abease, Prang battles for district capital

This came to light when the Regional Minister paid a courtesy call on the chiefs of the two traditional areas as part of his familiarisation tour of the Pru District to thank the people for voting the New Patriotic Party into power.
The tour was an opportunity for the Regional Minister to seek first-hand information of their challenges, share government policies with them and also to inspect project implementation at the area.
Lobbying for the district capital, Nana Brempong Kru Takyi said Abease was the centre of the world and there were pillars as evidence according to researchers. He said Abease has about 38 villages and was position as the district capital for yet to be created Pru West District.
He noted that they have the facilities to be the Pru West district capital should it be created as he appealed the Regional Minister.He justified that the Abease has 1,437 square kilometres, 54 schools and 61,000 voting population out of their total population of 78000.
The Omanhene of Prang traditional area Nana Kwadwo Nyanko III welcoming the minister on his familiarisation tour at his palace noted that one major requirement supporting Prang as the capital of the new district was that Prang was the capital of Pru west constituency which embraces Prang and Abease Traditional Areas.

"All other facilities that will be needed for Prang to be accepted as the capital for the new district are well available”, he said. “A petition in respect for my claim has been submitted to the Hon. Regional minister. The petition highlights the needed facilities. My appeal now therefore to our regional minister requesting for the creation of a new district for Prang and Abease with Prang as the district capital is consequently just a reminder which I humbly pray must be given absolute attention”, he emphasized.
With regards to population of Prang traditional area, the Omanhene said the area cover about 45 villages and the population of the Prang traditional area would be over 50,000 inhabitants.
Mr Asomah-Cheremeh on listening to both size advice the chiefs to remain calm. He said they should also advise the youth to be law abiding and not to take to demonstration when a district capital is announced.
Generally, the Regional Minister noted that water problem was raised across all the places visited and at both Prang and Abease, he said the Ministry of Housing and Water Resources would send a research team to look for easy access to water before drilling so that government do not waste resources to drill for areas where the water table was low.
The Minister hinted that each district will be given ten (10) boreholes. He said Government would also provide five toilet facilities for each district accompany by a borehole. He also promised that the road from Prang to Abease would be completed and tarred.
