Asokore Mampong among first 10 districts to receive factories

The Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti region has been earmarked by government as part of the first ten districts to receive factories under the NPP administration’s “one district, one factory” initiative.

“One district one factory” is a flagship initiative by the Akufo Addo government which is designed to produce strategic outcomes such as high enterprise competitiveness, high levels of productivity, expanded market access to regional and international markets.

The programme is also expected to improve balance of trade differentials, increase business revenue levels, high job creation, eradication of poverty, high level sustainable business practices, bolstered national economic revenue and importantly improve livelihoods.

The Project intervention, when fully accomplished will enable government achieve its loudly spoked about transformation agenda which is expected through industrialization.

Confirming this in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokore Mampong, Alhaji Alidu Seidu disclosed that “we have been very lucky to be among the selected districts for initial stage of the industrialization initiative by the government”.

He however, revealed that discussions were still ongoing between the assembly and the investor in a project which is expected to create direct jobs for about 150 youth in the area.

He further revealed that the assembly had already acquired land to help set up the factory immediately the green light is given by the government. .

The MCE, who expressed his delight for being part of the initial stage of the project, added that “Asokore Mampong is more than prepared because we are in for jobs for our people”.
