Bawku communities tasked assembly for development amenities
Communities in Bawku and surrounding areas Thursday tasked the Bawku Municipal Assembly to provide development amenities in the municipality to make life meaningful and comfortable for the people.

They advocated for amenities such as health facilities for the delivery of quality health services, provision of access, link and tarred road network, construction of more schools and the provision of portable drinking water.
The community members noted that providing these amenities would improve the socio-economic well-being of the people in the area.
They lamented that the poor road network was endangering their lives as a result of which they were unable to accesses quality health services and trade.
They also explained that portable drinking water was a major worry to them and that life would be comfortable if they had water to run their daily activities including farming.
This came to light when Mr Issahaku Bukari, Municipal Chief Executive for the area paid a maiden courtesy calls to 15 divisional chiefs in the area to have first-hand information on developmental challenges facing the traditional areas.
Among the communities he visited were Koka, Bugri coner, Zabugu, Goziase, Misiga, and Zoogo.
At Koka, Naba Awini Ndeogo, divisional chief of the area commended government for making community development a priority and called on it to provide them with irrigation dams to help them in farming during the dry season.
Naba Ndeogo said maternal mortality was on the increase in most communities in his divisional area as a result of lack of health facility such as a Community-Based Health Planning Service (CHPS) compound.
Divisional chief for the zoogo traditional area, Naba Baba Mahamudu asked government to take a second look at the falling standards of education, since it was the bedrock for national development.
He called on the Chief Executive to enforce the abolishing of discotheques in the area because most of the patrons were school children, instead of concentrating on their studies.
He hinted that the high record of teenage pregnancies and school drop-outs were as a result of these night clubs.
The MCE commended the people for understanding the policies of government and gave the assurance that government was committed to bringing development to area.
He said government has rolled out more development interventions that would provide them with quality livelihoods.
