Dome-Kwabenya MP Donates 5,000 Classroom Tables and Chairs to Ga East Schools

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Hon. Elikplim Akurugu, has donated 5,000 single-unit tables and chairs to the Ga East Municipal Education Directorate to improve teaching and learning in public basic schools across the municipality.

The furniture is expected to address the persistent shortage of classroom desks, provide comfortable seating for pupils and create a more conducive learning environment in beneficiary schools.

Speaking during the handing-over ceremony, Hon. Elikplim Akurugu reaffirmed her commitment to promoting quality education through investments in educational infrastructure and learning resources.

She noted that providing adequate classroom furniture is critical to improving learning outcomes and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to study in a safe and comfortable classroom.

The MP appealed to school authorities to properly maintain the tables and chairs to ensure they serve pupils for many years.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga East, Hon. Edmund Agboh, commended the MP for the intervention, describing it as a significant contribution towards improving educational infrastructure in the municipality.

He expressed the Assembly's appreciation for the donation and assured that the furniture would be distributed fairly to schools that need them most. He further pledged the Assembly's support to ensure the items are properly maintained for the benefit of pupils.

Receiving the furniture on behalf of the Directorate, the Ga East Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Eric Sey, thanked the Member of Parliament for what he described as a timely intervention.

He said the Directorate would ensure the tables and chairs are distributed to schools facing the greatest furniture deficits to maximise their impact on teaching and learning.

The donation forms part of ongoing efforts to improve educational infrastructure and enhance access to quality basic education across the Ga East Municipality.
