The facility, situated at Wechiau in the Wa West District, would facilitate the implementation of World Vision Ghana’s programmes aimed at improving the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable children, their families, and communities.

The organisation operated from an office space at the Wa West District Assembly since its inception in the district in 2019 until the commissioning of the new office complex.

Speaking at the commissioning, Mr. Joshua Baidoo, the Strategy and Integrated Programmes Director (SIPD) at World Vision Ghana, indicated that the office symbolised the unwavering commitment of WVG to transforming lives and fostering community resilience.

He explained that the new office would strengthen their collaboration with the District Assemblies and traditional authorities in the implementation of its interventions and improve the organisation’s capacity to deliver holistic and sustainable support.

Mr. Baidoo said since the inception of the Wa West Area Programme in 2019, World Vision Ghana had directly impacted the lives of over 46,000 individuals through various interventions.

“Building on this success, in 2022, we expanded our operations to Wa East, where we are currently providing support to over 26,000 vulnerable children and their families through our technical programmes”, he explained.

He assured them of their continued to collaborate with the district assemblies and stakeholders to address critical issues, such as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), poverty, inequalities, among others.

Mr. Sergious Before, the Wa Cluster Manager, World Vision Ghana, expressed gratitude to the Wa West District Assembly for its continued support in facilitating the organisation’s interventions in the area.

He mentioned several interventions being implemented by the WVG in the district to improve children’s well-being, education, health, and livelihoods in the district.

The interventions included donation of 5,000 Vitamin A supplements to health facilities, rehabilitation of 12 malnourished children, and distribution of furniture to the Buli and Woloyir Primary Schools.

Additionally, over 3,000 children in the district received educational material, including school bags, uniforms, books, sanitary pads, and bicycles to improve access to education.

On WASH, Mr. Before indicated that they provided two solar-powered mechanised water systems and three boreholes to five communities in the district.

Mr. Richard Wulo, the Wa West District Chief Executive, said the establishment of the office symbolised the commitment to WVG to contribute to the sustainable development of the district.

He said the work of the organisation had improved the lives of many people in the district in the areas of WASH access, economic, health and education, among others.

Mr. Wulo cited a mechanised water system at Kangba and a handwashing facility at the Kangba basic as some of the many interventions by the organisation in the district, and assured the organisation of the Assembly’s continued support and collaboration.
