As part of the activities, the hospital’s maternity and Antenatal Care (ANC) teams engaged expectant mothers at the ANC Clinic and Maternity Ward, where they provided education on the warning signs of pre-eclampsia, the need for regular health monitoring, and the importance of early diagnosis in preventing maternal and newborn deaths.

The climax of the commemoration was a Health Education and Screening Programme held at Asutuare in the Shai Osudoku District. During the exercise, community members, particularly pregnant women, underwent free screening and received sensitisation on pre-eclampsia and its associated health risks.

Health professionals at the event noted that pre-eclampsia remains one of the leading causes of maternal and newborn deaths globally, stressing that timely detection and proper medical care are crucial in saving lives.

The hospital also commended its Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Midwifery team for their dedication and continued commitment to improving maternal healthcare delivery within the district.
