He said the fixed bridge had opened the area to the rest of the District thereby boosting their economic activities.
Mr. Watson was speaking in an interview during a visit to inspect the fixed bridge, as well as works on a new concrete bridge to replace the old steel bridge.
The Ebi bridge which links towns between Esiama to Teleku-Bokazo through to Aiyinasi had been broken for about four years now, with situation affecting the movement of goods and services thereby crippling the local economy and bringing untold hardships on the people.
Mr. Watson, thus, expressed gratitude to the MP and the DCE for the interim measure to fix the bridge to open up the area to traffic, while the Metropolitan Construction Limited made efforts to construct a concrete bridge to replace the steel.
The Assembly Member, the entire road from Teleku-Bokazo to Aiyinasi had been awarded on contract and would be asphalted as soon as the contractor finish work on the new bridge.
Madam Faridatu Shafu, a resident, said the communities along the River Ebi became miserable when the bridge broke down as traders and market women suffered in transacting their businesses.
She said pregnant women and the sick also faced challenges, as means of transport was not readily available, so we are happy that it has been fixed.
