This development follows President Akufo-Addo’s decision on Sunday night to partially lift the ban on social gatherings including places of worship.

The President, in his usual Address to the Nation on measures taken against the spread of virus, said religious service can commence effective Friday 5th June, 2020, with mandatory use of nose mask and with congregation not exceeding 100.

“An abridged format for religious services can commence. Twenty-five percent (25%) attendance, with a maximum number of one hundred (100) congregants, can worship at a time in church or at the mosque, with a mandatory one metre rule of social distancing between congregants,” Akufo-Addo said on Sunday.

On its part to avoid the spread of the virus, the Ga East Municipal Assembly is reminding leaders of various churches and mosques to get their places of worship properly fumigated before Friday.

The exercise, which is being conducted by Public Health officers of the Assembly will take place in churches and mosques with certificate of compliance issued to all fumigated facilities in the municipality.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s confirmed coronavirus cases currently stands at 8,070 with 2,947 recoveries and 36 deaths.

According to the Ghana Health Service, the figures clearly indicate that the country is currently battling with about 5,087 active cases.
