The support was presented on Friday, August 14, 2026, during a ceremony led by Hon. Godwin Bobobee in collaboration with the District NADMO Director and staff of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.
The beneficiaries received various items based on their individual trades and economic activities. The items included agrochemicals, a washing machine, paints, provisions, a movable cassava grinding machine, cosmetics and hairdressing equipment, six wheelbarrows, a welding machine, deep freezers, barbering machines and materials for liquid soap production.
Other beneficiaries received food items including beans, onions, pepper, gari and palm oil to support their livelihoods and economic activities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Godwin Bobobee reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that every resident, regardless of their circumstances, had the opportunity to participate meaningfully in the development of the district.
He stressed that supporting PWDs should not be viewed merely as charity but as an investment in human potential, dignity and inclusive economic growth.
According to the DCE, the intervention was designed to strengthen the economic independence of beneficiaries by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to expand existing businesses or establish sustainable income-generating activities.
He expressed confidence that the support would help beneficiaries improve their incomes, enhance household livelihoods and contribute more actively to the socio-economic development of their communities.
The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to translate social protection policies into practical interventions that directly benefit vulnerable groups.
By providing productive assets and livelihood opportunities, the Assembly seeks to promote self-reliance, dignity and greater participation of Persons with Disabilities in community development.
Hon. Godwin Bobobee commended the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, the District NADMO Directorate, beneficiary groups and other stakeholders for their contributions towards the successful implementation of the programme.
The Asuogyaman District Assembly expressed optimism that the intervention would create sustainable economic opportunities for the beneficiaries and bring renewed hope to them and their families.
The Assembly further reaffirmed its commitment to building an inclusive, resilient and prosperous Asuogyaman District where all residents have the opportunity to contribute to and benefit from local development.
