ASUOGYAMAN: Assembly distributes 54, 662 mosquito nets

A total of about 54, 662 mosquito nets have so far been distributed in 122 communities in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region. The distribution covered over 25,904 households across the district.

District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr Samuel Kwame Agyekum, who announced this at the Assembly’s Meeting held at Atimpoku, said the move is to help reduce the spread of malaria infection in the area.

He stated that the Assembly was also working assiduously to provide the needed infrastructure and logistics to help reduce maternal and child mortality rate in the district.

In other developments, Mr Agyekum has revealed that the Assembly has strengthened collaboration with development partners to help provide good drinking water to deprived communities in the district.

According o him, the Assembly together with the Volta River Authority (VRA) partnered “Project Maji”, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) to provide solar powered water facility for the people of Sedorm and its environs.

He added that discussions were far advanced and list of other communities in need of water has been forwarded to the NGO for consideration.
