The donation by the MP was in response to growing concerns of recent robberies on major roads causing fear and panic among commuters and residents in the Municipality.

Mr. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, presented the items to the police at a brief ceremony held at the regional police headquarters in Sunyani with the MP.

Millicent Yeboah Amankwah, the MP in her brief address at the ceremony disclosed that she consulted the police command and the Regional Minister, who chairs the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), over recent robberies at her constituency which have triggered fear among the people and resolved to support the police with this operational logistic. “I donated the pickup and motorbikes to support both the regional and constituency-level police units to enhance their fight against crime”, she emphasized. She urged the public to report criminal activity to help improve security.

The Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa expressed his appreciation to the MP for her kind gestures by supporting to strengthen security across Sunyani West and adjoining areas. He said plans were far advanced to establish police posts and extend mobile network coverage in areas with poor network for people to call and report to help reduce crime and robberies. “The Bono Region is not known for such crimes, and REGSEC will not allow the situation to escalate,” the Minister assured.

DCOP Yao Dougbue Tettehgah who received the item expressed gratitude to the MP for the support.  He said the vehicle and motorbikes will be deployed to known hotspots noted for robberies and other criminal activities to bring such under control as well as ensure safety on the roads.
