Sekyere Central District distributes 150,000 cashew seedlings to farmers

The District Chief Executive for Sekyere Central District, Kwadwo Banahene Bediako has called on farmers to patronize the government policy of cashew plantation.

Sekyere Central District is typically an agriculture area in Ashanti Region. The area is noted for the production of maize, yam, rice among a host of other crops.

The NPP government program of cash crops plantation has extended to the people in the district. This will help them in future and compliment the food crop production.



In view of this, the DCE, Kwadwo Banahene Bediako distributed some 150,000 cashew seedlings to farmers in the district for plantation to revamp the cashew sector in the district.

The DCE after the distribution at Kwamang said the district is looking forward to give 1million seedlings to farmers in the next 3 years. He further said that the Agric officers and other stakeholders will help farmers during plantation process.

Hon Bediako further said that the farmers are taking the seedlings for free with no charge. The Assembly has made its plans to make the nursery in seven (7) communities namely Beposo, Nsuta, Oku, Jeduako, Berim, Santaso, and Kwamang to benefit everybody in the district.



Some beneficiary farmers with joy and enthusiasm expressed appreciation to President Akufo Addo and DCE Hon Kwadwo Banahene for bringing this project to their door steps.

They advised the Youth to get themselves involve in the cashew farming for the future survival.
