SEKYERE C: Farmers receive 60,000 cashew seedlings to boost production

The Sekyere Central District Assembly of Ashanti region has cushioned 60 farmers that are into cashew cultivation with free 60,000 seedlings to enable them go extra mile in endeavor.

During the distribution, the District Chief Executive for the area, Kwadwo Banahene Badiako opined that the priority of the district assembly is to help eradicate poverty and also to restore hope among the farmers in the district.

He explained that, formally the district was known widely in terms of cocoa production but perennial bush fires had destroyed most cocoa farmers and he believes that cashew tree crops which is resistant to fire would serve as provident to farmers.



Some beneficiary farmers eulogized the government for its immense support and contributions to make their efforts a meaning one.

They also appealed to the government to provide ready and proper market avenues for their farm produce, beside the road network linking their farm lands must be rehabilitated to offer them a sigh of relieve.
