Prestea/Huni-valley Constituency to get new health facility

Mr Mozart Kweku Owuh, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Prestea/Huni-valley municipal assembly, together with the head and staff of the municipal works department, visited the Insu siding Electoral Area to inspect the ongoing construction of the new Community-based Health and Planning Services (CHPS) compound with nurses quarters.

The project is one of the numerous projects under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Program (IPEP) with funding from the 1 Million Dollar per Constituency allocation.

According to the MCE, the CHPS compound is vital and will serve a number of communities in the Prestea/Huni-valley municipality, adding that the completion of the project will increase access to and use of health services in remote communities.

The project, he revealed, is expected to be completed within a period of 6 months.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives is constructing 50 of such facility in 50 Constituencies throughout the country this year.

The IPEP is a key intervention of Akufo-Addo’s NPP government aimed at directing capital expenditure towards constituency-level infrastructure and economic development priorities.

Government has allocated to each of the 275 constituencies the Ghana cedi equivalence of US1 million dollar annually to finance the implementation of the projects.

This intervention by the Member of Parliament for Prestea/Huni-valley constituency, Hon. Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi and the government is also expected to promote inclusive development, create jobs with active involvement of the public sector and contribute to the eradication of poor access to health care in rural and deprived communities.
