Coronation of Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II underway

The historic coronation of new Yaa Naa of Dagbon, Abukari Mahama II is currently underway at the forecourt of the Gbewaa Palace, Yendi.

He succeeds late Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani II who was buried two weeks ago after his death in 2002.

Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama was selected by Dagbon Kingmakers last Friday, January 18, 2019, in Yendi after the burial of both Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai and Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani II.

Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama until his selection was the Paramount Chief of the Savelugu Traditional Area.



The occasion has seen the arrival of some high profile personalities of the country including President of the republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo, former President John Dramani Mahama, ministers of state, chiefs among other very important personalities.
