South Tongu MP donates 10 motorbikes in support of education
The Member of Parliament for South Tongu constituency in the Volta region, Kwabena Mensah Woyome has donated 10 motorbikes valued at an estimated cost of about Ghc 60,000 including taxes to the Education Unit of the South Tongu District Assembly.

Making the presentation, the MP thanked all stakeholders for their continuous contribution towards improvement in education delivery in the District.
He encouraged all to work towards harmonious coexistence.
The intervention was in response to a request made by the District Education directorate to the MP.
The MP said the intervention was aimed at empowering Circuit Supervisors who are direct links in the education delivery process.
He noted most of the Supervisor who hitherto use their own resources in the discharge of their duties can now brief a sigh of relief.
The motorbikes, he said would be distributed to the Circuit Supervisors to enable them reach out to the far distance schools to ensure strict supervision to curb the menace of teachers absenteeism in the District.
Mr Woyome said, access to education remained a top-most critical agenda to him as development agent and that he would do everything humanely possible to implement measures to improve the quality of basic and high school education in the constituency.
Sounding passionate about education, the South Tongu lawmaker said no society could achieve meaningful development without high-quality education, hence the effort to put to ensure every child in the constituency have access to education.
He assured to provide additional motorbikes to address teacher absenteeism at schools and to improve standard of education in this
constituency.
Mr Woyome acknowledged education as the bedrock of the country's development and assured the education directorate of his commitment to support same.
Funding for the motorbike was from the MPs share of GETFUND.
Director of Education for the South Tongu District, Araba Tetteh expressed joy at the gesture which she said will go a long way to enhance education in the area.
According to her, the MPs gesture will help Circuit Supervisors in the discharge of their responsibilities.
District Chief Executive of South Tongu Louis Agama also thanked the MP and assured the motorbikes will be put to good use.
