DCE joins National mass Measles vaccination

The Ningo Prampram District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Jonathan Teye Doku has joined Health workers in the ongoing nationwide vaccination against measles viral infection.

Mr. Doku noted that the government has made significant gains in controlling measles including other childhood killer diseases adding that he is glad to see the enthusiasm parents have attached to the exercise by making their children available at the various centers to be vaccinated.

In order to prevent disease, he advised parents to look out for signs and symptoms in their children which include fever, runny nose, skin rash or cough and report to health centers early even after exercise.

The District Health Director, madam Gifty O.Ansah noted that the entire District is being covered using trained health workers. she said the strategy used for easy identification of posts were through mounted static vaccination points in all the public health facilities and some mobile teams which moved around churches, mosques, schools and various assembling points.

She explained that measles is a serious disease caused by a small germ called the measles virus and if not well treated can bring about complications such as diarrhea, brain damage, lung infection, ear and eye infections and even death.
