Akuapem North MCE assures incident free Odwira
Barima Asiedu-Larbi, the Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem North says the Assembly is putting measures in place to ensure that all safety protocols are adhered to ahead of the 2023 Odwira festival.

According to him, the Assembly together with the personnel from the Ghana Police Service is making frantic efforts to prevent unnecessary traffic situation before, during and after the event.
The MCE, who was speaking about some pragmatic measures, put in place to ensure an incident free celebration of the 2023 Odwira festival at its launch at the Kwayisibea Hotel in Akropong Akuapem yesterday, said law enforcement agents will be well positioned to patrol various communities to promote the safety of all attendees.
This year’s event is scheduled for September 25 through to October, 2023, promises of displaying rich and colourful culture and heritage of the people of Akuapem is on theme: Eco-Tourism for Sustainable Development.
In a speech read on his behalf, Paramount chief of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, described the celebration of the Odwira festival as a moment for the people of Akuapem and Ghana as a whole “to tap into all tourism potentials not only to showcase and place Okuapeman on the world map, but also use Eco-tourism as a vehicle for sustainable development.”
He added that the 2023 Odwira offers opportunities for local businesses, organizations, and artisans to showcase their product and services to the rest of the world.
He continued by urging participants to embrace the spirit of the community by connecting with like-minded individuals to discover unique offerings, and support the growth of the area.
He assured that, the Traditional council together with personnel from the Ghana Police Service is on high alert to ensure the safety of attendees throughout the weeklong celebration.
“Nananom (chiefs) in conjunctions with the Security Agencies will ensure that lives and properties are adequately protected before, during and after the odwira festival”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Okuapem Traditional Council has announced that stringent measures have been put place to address issues of indecent exposure, adding that “Nananom (Chiefs) would not countenance any indecent exposure by way of dressing and we shall ensure that inappropriate dress codes are not paraded on our corridors.
