KWAEBIBIREM: Initiatives in education sector will improve education standards – MCE assures

According to the Municipal Chief Executive of the Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly, Seth Antwi Boasiako, education will continue to feature strongly in their everyday efforts to improve the living condition of their people.

This, he noted, explains the current seriousness attached to various areas of the sector to bring it up to speed with their goals and objectives as a municipality.

Speaking exclusively to Ghanadistricts.com, the MCE disclosed that measure instituted since assuming office are beginning to yield positive results; and is convinced their quest for improve academic performance will not elude them in the municipality.

Mr. Boasiako indicated that in view of addressing infrastructure challenges of senior high schools in the municipality, including Kade and Asuom SHSs, they have successfully lobbied for two dormitories one each for the each schools.

Contracts for the projects he indicated have been signed and engineers are on site preparing the projects to take off.

Meanwhile, the Asuom boys’ dormitory block which got burnt sometime last year has also been rehabilitated and handed over back to the school.

On performance, he said they have instituted a number of motivational programmes to boost the morale of both teachers and students. Among them include the institution of municipal teachers’ award, best students’ awards as well as recognizing effective performance of schools under the E-reading project. “It is also our resolve to ensure improvement in the school feeding programme, hence we have sensitize the caterers and instituted monitoring team to ensure pupils are fed with nutritious meals”, he added.

Another worrying development that need serious attention according to the MCE is social activities that pupils are engaged including attending funerals, game centres, which impact negatively on their education, adding they are instituting measures to curtail these developments too.

Meanwhile, Mr. Boasiako stated that appeal made to the National Rotary Authority for some institutional toilet facilities was honoured and five of such facilities have been constructed for various schools and handed over to them.
