Keta MCE interacts with communities to identify challenges

The engagement also aimed at identifying pressing challenges faced by residents in the communities to gather first-hand information for address.
Mr. Seadey in an interview during the engagement with residents of Vui-Tetekope Electoral Area said that the engagement would continue in all the 22 electoral areas in the municipality to listen attentively to the concerns and challenges that would be raised by the communities for better redress.
“Some of the pressing challenges raised by the communities include bad roads, extension of electrification projects, water crisis, health and other issues and l assure you that the concerns would be put together and address at the right time,” he said.
Mr. Seadey said the engagement was part of the routine to meet all the communities in the 22 electoral areas and gather information to be part of the assembly's four-year medium-term plans for the challenges to be prioritise and address one after the other based on their importance to the communities.
He said there was the need for proper planning before the release of the common fund from the government and explained that the assembly would soon receive the funds and that, it was essential to have a clear plan in place to ensure effective utilisation of the resources to avoid misuse.
The MCE said the importance of documenting the challenges faced by the communities would enable the assembly to prioritise and address the issues systematically for the benefit of the various communities devoid of their location or distance from the district capital.
“The community engagement exercise is a welcome development that provides an opportunity for residents to interact with us and express their concerns and the assembly is committed to address the needs of the communities."
Mr. Seadey assured the residents that the assembly would work tirelessly to address their concerns and improve their living conditions and urged them to collaborate and provide all the necessary support to the assembly for the objectives and goals to be achieved.
He said the various technocrats in the assembly have taken note of the numerous challenges tabled by the communities and would work in unity to provide the best solution to the challenges to mitigate the plight of the people.
Mr. Wisdom Klu-Agbeko and Mr. Promise Kofi Baccah, the assembly members of Vui-Tetekope and Abutsiakope electoral areas respectively, said that the MCE’s engagement with the communities highlighted the importance of community feedback in governance.
They said that Keta MCE's interaction with communities was a step in the right direction and listening to the concerns of residents, the assembly would develop targeted solutions to address the needs of the communities.
Some residents said that the engagement would enable the MCE and the various technocrats from the assembly to gather first-hand information to develop effective solutions to address the pressing challenges faced by the communities.
