AWUTU S E: We are poised to addressing infrastructure challenges of schools - MCE

Mr. Micheal Yaw Essuman Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Awutu-Senya East Municipal Assembly has given strong indication of focusing on storey buildings for schools instead of the usual short buildings.

This, according to him will ensure economic use of available lands and allow for schools to enroll more instead of using the meager resources in acquiring land with the aim of establishing new schools while existing ones can be equipped to accommodate more.

Mr. Mensah who made the disclosure to Ghanadistricts.com was giving details to some of the steps being taken to improve infrastructure particularly in basic schools in the Awutu-Senya East Municipality.

He noted that currently a one-storey, 12-unit classroom block, and a 6-unit classroom block have been awarded for construction at Amuzukope Basic School, and the contractors are on site to carry these projects.

Gadakope is also a beneficiary of another 12-unit classroom block under construction, which will be floored for future development into a storey buildings.

The contribution of the Member of Parliament for the Awutu-Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson has also been significant in this regard, adding that the MP has brought on board 3 main projects including; 6-unit classroom block at Emmanuel Presby School, ICODEHS – an Islamic School, as well as 6-unit block for Islamic Research. The Assembly is equally putting up another 6-unit block for Islamic Research making it two infrastructure projects for them, he stated.

Mr. Mensah said 30 teachers were appreciated and awarded by the MP and on to of that donated 250 dual desk to the school.

The MCE commended the MP for her role in trying to improve the educational sector in the municipality having already organized best teacher award for teachers in the municipality were over 30 teachers were honoured for their hard work and contribution to the sector. Meanwhile, the MP provided 250 dual desks for distribution to schools in dire need of desks in the municipality.
