Awutu Senya East Assembly to distribute 11,000 dual desks to schools

The Awutu-Senya East Municipal Assembly hopes to address inadequate furniture situation in schools as one of the measures to reduce challenges confronting the educational sector in the municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Micheal Yaw Essuman Mensah in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com disclosed that a need assessment conducted by the Assembly on the health sector revealed a shortfall of 11,000 desks in the schools.

And in line with their commitment to address difficulties faced by the education sector, the Assembly has awarded contract for the construction of the 11, 000 dual desks to be distributed to the schools.

According to him, while the assembly has moved in to solve the situation, the Member of Parliament for the area, Mavis Hawa Koomson has part of his support for the sector presented 250 dual desks to support some schools in dire need of such assistance.

The MCE deemed these investments as critical and important in the wake of their desire to give education a boost and use it as a catalyst to transform the lives of their citizenry.

He said creating the right atmosphere is very important to enhance effective teaching and learning thus their resolve to continually deal with these challenges head on.
