North Dayi celebrates farmers’ day
The North Dayi District Assembly has rewarded some dedicated farmers at the 2018 Farmers Day celebration held at Wusuta.

The celebration which was under the theme “Agriculture: Moving Ghana beyond Aid” brought together Traditional rulers, Member of Parliament(MP)for the area, the District Director of Agriculture, Security officers, health practitioners, farmers and the general public.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr. Edmund Kudjoh Atta in his address thanked the hardworking farmers and fishermen and congratulated them for their efforts in providing food for the citizenry and called on them to ready themselves for the “task ahead in feeding the nation, industry and above all, contribute significantly to the creation of employment.
The DCE said, in line with the national theme for the celebration, “Agriculture: Moving Ghana beyond Aid”, the Assembly would focus on three areas, “the human resource base, creating an enabling environment for the investor world and active participation in the market so created” in order for the District to achieve self-sufficiency.
He commended the ruling government’s initiatives in the agricultural sector which he described as unprecedented and assured that the
Assembly will replicate that to position the District among the food baskets of the country.
A 51-year old Mary Adjei was adjudged the Overall Best District Farmer and was awarded with a solar-powered television, 1 tricycle, 2 wellington boots, 2 cutlasses, 2 knapsack sprayers, and a solar lantern. The first and second runner ups and some selected farmers were also awarded respectively.
