Mrs. Anafo who announced this before the chiefs and people of the Sekoti traditional area, said government placed high premium on education and was making frantic efforts to provide infrastructure and materials for teaching and learning to ensure that the people patronized education fully.
She said the Assembly was sponsoring 248 untrained teachers through its sponsorship scheme to upgrade their skills to fill up the 52 per cent vacant positions for teachers in the district and indicated that the teachers were bonded to serve in the district for a three-year period.
Mrs. Anafo said 20 educational facilities had also been awarded on contract with the support of other development partners to construct dormitories, classrooms, and the extension of electricity across the district.
She said the district had rehabilitated a mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS centre, while the construction of nurses' quarters was underway and geared towards improving health delivery in the district.
She said efforts were being made to establish agencies for the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Tongo, Pelungu and Datuku to reduce the long distances clients travelled to Bolgatanga to register and renew their NHIS.
The DCE thanked Mr. John Tia Akolgo and Moses Dok Asaga, Members of Parliament for the area, for bringing projects especially water to their various constituencies.
She assured the people of Talensi-Nabdam that the assembly would not discriminate in the distribution of development projects and urged them to exercise some patience whilst their concerns were being addressed, especially as President Evans Atta Mills had declared this year as an Action Year.
