The inspection, which covered projects in the health, education, roads and water sectors, formed part of efforts by the Assembly to monitor the implementation of development projects and ensure value for money.

The team, which included technical officers from the Assembly, visited a number of project sites in the west, east and central zones of the district.

At the Kayoro Health Centre, the team inspected an ongoing semi-detached nurses’ quarters. Works at the facility included roofing, carpentry and joinery, electrical installations, construction of an apron around the quarters, burglar-proofing and the provision of a cesspit tank.

At Nakong Primary School, the DCE inspected a two-unit kindergarten block which had been roofed, with metal doors and windows installed and ceiling works completed. Mr Akurugo directed the contractor to prioritise the drilling of the project's borehole to provide a reliable water source for the school.

The team also inspected an ongoing maternity block at the Nakong CHPS Compound, as well as a solar-powered mechanised borehole project at Chiana Senior High School.

In the eastern part of the district, the team visited the Mirigu CHPS Compound, where a new maternity block was under construction. The facility is expected to include a labour room, waiting area, delivery room, midwife’s bedroom and kitchen, among other facilities.

The DCE expressed satisfaction with the progress of work but urged contractors to maintain the pace of construction to enable communities to benefit from the facilities as soon as possible.

The inspection team also visited Kandiga, where spot improvement works were being undertaken on the 1.4-kilometre Commercial Area–Kandiga Market Road.

Other projects inspected included renovation works at the Bugsongo Primary School, a three-unit Junior High School block at Dazongo, and a solar mechanisation water system at Sirigu Senior High School.

In the central zone, the team inspected a three-unit classroom project at Boania, a solar mechanised water system at Paga Senior High School, the renovated Navio CHPS Compound, and rehabilitation works at the Babile slaughterhouse.

The Kassena-Nankana West District Assembly has said the projects form part of efforts to improve access to quality education, healthcare, potable water and road infrastructure in the district.

Mr Akurugo further charged contractors to ensure that projects were executed according to specification and completed within the stipulated periods.

The Assembly's inspection of the projects underscores its commitment to regular monitoring of development works to ensure that public investments translate into tangible benefits for residents.

The DCE has previously called on contractors executing projects in the district to accelerate work and has tasked technical officers to undertake regular field monitoring to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications.
