Kassena Nankana Assembly supports PWDs

The Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly through the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development (SWCD) has disbursed share of the common fund meant for People Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality.

The SWCD Officer, Ms. Rosemary Awiah stated that, a total of 128 persons, 7 groups are benefiting from the fund in various intervention areas such as Education, Health, Income generating activities and Group development.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Joseph Adongo in an address to the beneficiaries said it is an obligation on the part of Government to support people living with Disability. He ceased the opportunity to enlighten PWDs on the various processes involved in assessing the funds. He encouraged them to put it to good use.

He made a presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries.

The Head of Business Advisory Center (BAC), Joseph Tiewul sensitized beneficiaries on how to sustain their business. He informed them that there would be intense monitoring of the use of money by beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive and Government for considering them and also hoped much would be done to make life better for them.
